Only for the trip speedometer, and optionally to name a fuel station. Precise location is required because coarse fixes cannot produce a usable speed — the reading would jump by tens of km/h. Your coordinates are never saved or sent anywhere; a trip stores distance, time and speed only. See the privacy policy.

The GPS one, almost certainly. Manufacturers deliberately set speedometers to over-read — typically by 3–5% — so a bike showing 100 is often doing about 96. GPS measures your actual movement. It can be wrong where signal is poor, such as under bridges or between tall buildings, and the app shows the accuracy so you can judge.

It should not — recording runs in a foreground service and you should see an ongoing notification. Some phones, Samsung and Xiaomi especially, kill background work aggressively. Set RideBook's battery usage to Unrestricted in Android settings, and do not swipe the app away from recents while a trip is running.

Precise per-tank mileage needs two full tanks — with a partial fill there is no way to know how much fuel was actually burned. If you rarely fill up, use the lifetime average instead: it appears on the vehicle summary after two fill-ups of any kind and is honest about being an average.

Yes. Choose the type when you add the vehicle and the parts list adjusts — a car is never offered a chain, a bike is never offered a cabin filter. With more than one vehicle the dashboard compares them side by side.

Right now, nothing carries over automatically — there is no server, which is why the app works entirely offline. Before switching, go to More → Export everything and keep the CSV files. Cloud sync is planned, and it will be optional.

Completely. Logging, scanning, reminders, the speedometer and every chart work with no connection at all. The internet is used only for opening links such as this page.

It happens — dirty glass, sunlight, and unusual display fonts all hurt. The app cross-checks that litres × price matches the total and asks you to confirm before saving, so just correct the field. You can always type everything by hand; entering any two of the three values fills in the third.

Uninstall the app. Every record lives in the app's private storage and goes with it. Nothing is kept anywhere else, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
